    Unanswered: Naming Convention

    Hi all,
    I wanted to ask for the naming conventions in SQL SERVER.as in case of pl/sql server we have ..name_of_package.name_of_procedure thats how we call the procedures i.e. owner of schema then name of package n then procedure name.....i want to ask you all how is it done in SQL SERVER..please try to reply as soon as possible,
    i will b waiting for the replies,

    the same except the schema is optional if there is only one sproc of that name. I believe including the schema is considered good practice though as it saves SQL Server checking.

    Actually - just reread. Ok - SQL Server:

    [EXEC] [ServerName].[DB_Name].[Schema].ProcName

    EXEC optional (I like it as it makes code more readable IMO)
    Servername only required if acting on a linked server.
    DB Name only requried if acting on a db you aren't currently in the context of.
    Schema only strictly required if the sproc exists in two schemas.
    Sproc name - manditory.
