    Unanswered: initora parameters confusion

    If in 9i:

    tape_asynch_io=true

    then why we keep -> dbwr_io_slave=0 ????

    If I give dbwr_io_slaves=1 or 2 will it effect the performance or there is no use to enable this parameter ???

    Thanks in advance

    tape_asynch_io will just tell oracle that your underlying tape device you're extracing data from, supports asynchronious i/o -- that is, multiple processes can access/write data from/to it at the same time.

    It can or not affect performance if you set dbwr_io_slaves to 1 or 2, since you can really overload your i/o devices if you set it too high. Many OS these days support asynchronious i/o.

    Can you please tell me how to check the speed of the DBWR?

    We already have

    dbwr_writer_processes=8

    Our OS is using asynch I/O and so dbwr_io_slaves=0 and
    disk_asynch_io=True

    I want to se the speed of DBWR processes....

    Thanks in advance...........
