Unanswered: instance creation problem
ENV: DB2 UDB v8.2 FP 7, AIX 5.2 (both the servers)
I have to migrate the database from our old prod to the new prod server.
I have installed the DB2 software , applied the fixpaks on the new prod server. But before creating the instance i copied the /etc/services from old to the new one. I then used this command to create the instance
db2icrt -s ESE -p DB2_prod2 -w 32 -u prodf2 prod2
Though the instance is created successfully but I get this error:
An error occurred while updating the services file on the system for the service
name "DB2_prod2" with port "60000"
This this how the new prod server's services file look like:
DO I need to be worried and recreate this instance with some different setting? Is there a workaround for this?

just check db2 get dbm cfg |grep SVCE
check that svcename is pointing to correct entry in /etc/services with expected port number and start db2 (db2start) if binding with tcpip fails, this will be indicated at start of db2.
otherwise db2 update dbm cfg using svcename xxxxBest Regards, Guy Przytula
