Unanswered: Save 'Ł' and 'ł' successfully in a Sybase table

Please advise how I store the characters 'Ł' and 'ł' in a Sybase table?

They are part of the 'Latin Extended-A' character set, Unicode no's. 0141 and 0142. When I update a column through SQL advantage, Sybase translates them to a normal letter 'L' or 'l'?

I am using Sybase ASE and SQL Advantage 12.5.1.

extended latin is not available in teh default character set. You would need UTF-8 as the server default character set.

I would also play with unichar or univarchar
