    Unanswered: dependant field

    i searched and could not find and answer to my Q.

    table: field, field, field
    table incidents: iID, route, location
    table routes: rID, rName, rPath
    table locations: lID, lName, lPath

    relationships:
    route - rID
    location - lID
    rPath - lPath

    i have three tables with the relationships illustrated above. i want to be able to select a routeName and limit my choices of locationNames on both the table and the form.

    for the table i was thinking of something like:
    SELECT locations.lPath
    FROM routes INNER JOIN locations ON routes.rPath = locations.lPath
    WHERE ((([Incidents].[Route])=[routes].[rNames]));

    but that has not worked. for the form, i cutNpaste this to the rowSource. i then get a dialogBox with "enter parameter value" for "routs.rNames"

    please advise

    Hi bcoste1

    Welcome to the forum

    Check your post again - are these typos in your post or your source code? Your error message does not match the SQL and in turn the names of objects in the SQL do not match the earlier table definitions.

    WHERE ((([Incidents].[Route])=[routes].[rNames]));
    shouldn't it be WHERE ((([Incidents].[Route])=[routes].[rName]));
