    Unanswered: tempdb contention

We are running ASE 12.5.0.3 and we are having tempdb contention. I have a sproc that creates a temp table, populates it with data, then drops the temp table before exiting the sproc. Sometimes we are seeing a 4 to 5 minute delay when dropping the table. Has anyone else had this type of contention and, if so, any solutions for this? Thanks.

if tghis isn't a # table then use truncate table prior to the drop. truncate needs to be run in dynamic sql within the proc

Also make sure dsync is off on the tempdb device/s as I remember theres a known issue of tempdb contention if its on... (which obviously is going to be on a f/s),

You could change it by using
    sp_deviceattr

    But it requires a bounce.
