Question Unanswered: Union Query Date Format

I've formatted all dates in my database as medium (dd-mmm-yy), but my union queries automatically change the format back to the default short date (mm-dd-yyyy). Is there a way to format a union query to display medium dates instead of short?
    Thanks!
