    Unhappy Unanswered: ORA-30036: unable to extend error

    I am trying to copy huge data from one table to another using

    INSERT /*+APPEND*/ INTO MY_TABLE SELECT * FROM SOURCE_VIEW

    I'm getting error

    Procedure xxxxxx resulted in error ORA-30036: unable to extend
    segment by 8 in undo tablespace 'UNDO_RBS1'

    I got the space increased by 1GB but am still getting same error everytime I try to copy the data.

    is there a way to commit in between while the data is being copied?

    Thanks
    Rohit

    You might try this before you do your update:

    Code:
    ALTER TABLE my_table NOLOGGING;
    This tells Oracle not to place redo information in the redo logs. I would change back to LOGGING after you finish the update. This setting is for tables where the data likely can be re-constructed easily using other sources.

    Hope this helps...
