    Unanswered: Urgent Numbering system

    Urgent please
    I am developing a software for displaying patient sheets , i need a number system , that increments on every new sheet and allows me to reuse a number if i delete its sheet again!!

    Well

    it is supposed to pay well but i didnt see anything yet !
    I used the dmax function till now ...
    The only problem is that if i wrote sheets from 1 - 10 then i decided to delete #6 , then #6 is lost forever..and i will be having gaps in my serial system

    The bmp works fine with all software types..But it is read wrong on the access database with myself and the other computers i work on

    You could use a temporary integer table to figure out where you have gaps. The general idea is to create a table that has only a sequence of integer values, the left-join it to your target table. Anything that pop's up null in your target table is a gap.
