does anyone know how to access the GAL (global address book) via a form in Access to populate fields?

file - get external data - link tables

when the dialog box to choose a file come up, change the file type to 'exchange' (assuming you're on an exchange server).

Yes, this works; however it is very slow. Is there another way? I'm trying to look up e-mail addresses for an e-mail notification setup form. I have a button to click to select the "to" addresses from the list in the GAL.

I'm thinking there has to be a way to connect programatically to Outlook/Exchange to get this info.

It does tend to be slow. You could either have open the email before sending and let the user choose the name through outlook or periodically import the address table to the access db. The initial import is slow, but once it's in the db it moves pretty quickly and you can always get rid of any fields/records that you don't need to keep the size down.
