I am not so good with some code used in vb coding so I am not clear on
    why
    I am getting that error.

So can you assist me in correcting where I have gone wrong! Note that I
    am
trying to use the code you provide in an access 2000 database.

This is common problem. Any code you use in VBA comes from a code library
(VBA, Excel etc). One of these libraries is the DAO library. You need to
point your project to the DAO library (refernce it).
Click Tools -> References and scroll down to Microsoft DAO 3.6 Object
Library (or similar) and select it.
