    Unanswered: ORA-27063: skgfospo: number of bytes read/written is incorrect / SVR4 Error: 5: I/O e

    Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can help. We have some strange messages in our oracle alert logs. The above error occurs at random times of the day and night. Our backups run between midnight and 3am, but these errors have occurred at 9am and 4pm and other times too. We use hot backups but do not use RMAN.

Is there a chance this could be a hardware error? We have tons of space. The errors seem to occur when writing to redo logs and control files, across a number of disks at random times.

We are using a Solaris v9 server, with RAID.

I would greatly appreciate any help on this.

This looks "bad". Have you applied the latest oracle 9i patch ?

    Cool

Not only looks bad, but VERY BAD. SVR4 Error: 5: I/O error is normally related to disk physical error.
