    Unanswered: DB synchronization

    Hi,

I have a sybase background where we can take a database backup from one server and restore it to a database on other server.

As I am new to Oracle world, I would like to know if it is possible to do same on Oracle ?

What I am trying for is,

    Step1:
Take a complete backup using RMAN on production db server on weekly basis.

    Step 2:
Synchronize disaster recovery database server with the backup from Step 1 on weekly basis.

    Step 3:
Take transaction backup using RMAN on production server on daily basis.

    Step 4:
Restore transaction backup on disaster recovery database server with the backup from Step 3.

Production and Disaster recovery servers are setup the same way from each aspect..but I guess dbis will be a difference.

    Thanks for your time.

    Regards
    Wilson

    Cool

Check out Oracles's standby database feature.
