    Unanswered: SQL Optimisation

I've SQL 2000 database server as the DB server.
I need to fine tune the SQL used in sprocs/views/dynamic SQL.

I'm using SQL query analyser to view the performance with the help of execution plan and other means.

Few things i see are scalar cost,I/O cost etc..

I'm not very conmfortable with this and need some help to understand it to fine tune the SQL.

Can you advice me how to interprete these outputs in terms of tuning requirements?

    Thanks in advance.

Start by reading the sections in Books Online pertaining to performance tuning.
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

Books Online should be your first source.
