Does anyone have any idea why Microsoft's automation can be so unreliable? I had a great, slick way of having users save an Excel report with the name of the report from the list box they double-click on. Yesterday, it was working WONDERFULLY. Today, I get something like: "Dialog Show class operation failed". Not the kind of the thing you want your manager to see when you're presenting for approval! Here's the command I used:
So, apparently the "Show" operation failed today after working fine yesterday.
Is it the Jet Engine? Has anyone else had problems with this?
Gotta say - I find automation pretty reliable. Having said that I also try to keep as much control over everything as I can. I would (in fact do) ask the user for their preferred name using an input box (or listbox as you use) and invoke the SaveAs method (i.e. skip the saveas dialog alltogether).
