    Unanswered: Type2 indexes

    All-

Will there be any performance effect if we don't convert type1 indexes to typ2 indexes

Or will there be any perofrmance gain if we convert type 1 to 2 . we got 8.2 DB , but our indexes are still type1.

If converting the indexs to type2 increase the performance , i will go for it.

    Please suggest.

    thanks

If you reorg the table offline (which will automatically reorg the indexes), or reorg the indexes online, then the indexes will be switched to type 2. Type 2 will reduce locking problems and possibly reduce lock wait time, but will not otherwise affect performance.

    Hi,
if I remember correctly type-2 indexes requires little more disk space. So if you are using DMS tablespaces make sure you have enough disk space before converting indexes.
    Hope this helps,
