Unanswered: database design... too many tables?

    Hello,

Im putting together a product catalog on a website and have setup my product catagories and subcatagories... the problem is each product will have a table with information about the product (ex. one product might have size and qty columns with about 15 rows.. and other tables with totally different column headings .. but each table has dissimilar table title columns... would this mean that youd have to create 2500 separate tables for each product?

Is there an easy way to do this?

    Thanks for any help!

you could create a separate table as a master for different types of headings... and another table would hold the product id as well as an id to point to the heading and the actual entry itself

it's bill of materials type of relationship... try to browse around for a while, you'll probably find many approaches to this, and adapt to what suits your needs
