Unanswered: Reporting Services - Fields cannot be used in page headers or footers

    Hello all,

I am creating a report in SSRS and the data is obtained through a stored procedure. One of the parameters is Begin_Date. This is simply a date field. I need to have it on the Page Header section. However, when I placed it there and ran the report, I received the following error -

Error 2 [rsFieldInPageSectionExpression] The Value expression for the textbox ‘begindate’ refers to a field. Fields cannot be used in page headers or footers.

Is there a way around? I have never faced such a problem when I created reports in Crystal or ActiveReports. Please let me know whether I am missing anything.

    Thanks in advance,
    Saurav

This should do it for you ...

Believe me, if Crystal can do it, RS can do it a thousandfold - they just do things differently...

See my article at this URL, which addressses your dilemma specifically:

I also invite you to take a look at the index pages below, for more articles about the components of the MS BI solution.

    Good Luck ...

SSRS: How to pass different parameters automatically to a report

    Hello all,

I have a project where I need to automatically pass 2 sets of parameters to a SSRS report and generate PDF files. I have set the defaults for the parameters based on one set of parameters and created a subscription to automatically generate PDF copy. However, I am not sure how to generate the report automatically using the other set of parameters. Also, I don't want to create two report files to accomplish this.

    Can you please help?

    Thanks in advance,
    Saurav
