Unanswered: Confused by install files for 10g

    Hello,

I want to install Oracle 10g on Gentoo Linux. I realize that it's not officially supported but it seems that many people have it up and running and I've found a couple of detailed how-tos so I'm going to give it a shot. I have a problem though right off the bat. The how-tos detail the process for installing 10g without RAC and start by instructing one to download the file ship.db.cpio.gz. When I navegate the oracle download center to the x86 linux download the only file I can find is a 600mb file named 10201_database_linux32.zip. Am I looking in the wrong place? Is the ship.db.cpio.gz file located somwhere else on the download center? Should I dowload the zip file instead? Does it install RAC? I definitely don't need RAC. Thanks in advance for any help anyone can offer.

Yes, 10201_database_linux32.zip is the one you want.
And no, it won't install RAC.
