Unanswered: how do I parse the time from date in the date/time field?

I am trying to sort transactional records that have a date/time stamp only by month, date and year. Is there a way to do this without going through time consuming Excel tricks?

    Thanks!

Let's see ... Try using the Format function ...
Back to Access ... ADO is not the way to go for speed ...

The format function does not provide a unique subset that groups/sums records by just date when the time stamp is still included...I don't think my original question was clear enough

I don't think so either! What exactly are you trying to do, and where are you trying to do it? You are speaking of an Access app, right?
    Hope this helps!

The problem with making anything foolproof...is that fools are so darn ingenious!

I'm trying to summarize transactional information that has a date/time stamp on it and I am having trouble summarizing only by date eliminating the time aspect...

    Thx

    By Month:
    Code:
    Month(MyDate)
    By Year:
    Code:
    Year(MyDate)
    Strip off time:
    Code:
    DATEADD("d",DATEDIFF("d",0,MyDate),0)
That's one way. Mike is right - you could use format too - but I can't remember the code right now.
