Unanswered: Numbering Results in A Query

This is an .mdb in Access 2k

I have a set of results that I'm interested in numbering by group sorted in date ascending order. I know that sounds a bit strange, but it should look like this.

    x, y, 1
    x, y, 2
    x, y, 3
    x, y, 4
    x, z, 1
    x, z, 2
    x, z, 3

with the numbers restarting for every value.

I had planned on using the results in a chart - specifically the numbered field as the x axis. The results will show me daily shipped amounts for different promos (day 1 promo 1 vs day 1 promo 2, etc), the daily results for each promo would be the numbered column.

    Any help appreciated.

    Hi
Try here for some ideas on the row numbering problem you have. I've not tried it but, it looks workable
