Unanswered: When did Microsoft launch SQL Server ?

    Hi Folks,

My understanding is that Microsoft acquired the rights to use and re-badge Sybase as SQL Server and since then have engaged in a substantial re-write as part of their commitment to it.

Is this correct and can anyone give me some dates ?

    Thanks very much

it was the early 90s I think. There is a decent history of the whole thing at the begining of Inside SQL Server 2000 by Kalen Delany. You can google this. "SQL Server history"
“If one brings so much courage to this world the world has to kill them or break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” Earnest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms.

Got about 20K I can borrow for 5 years? I either return 100% of your investment (40K) or go broke trying.

    Now you've been touched
