Getting errors using ASP code to access databases hosted on SQL server 2000.

We are switching/upgrading from seperate MS ACCESS databases to all databases in the SQL Server 2000. Our goal is to allow SQL Server access to Authenticated Domain Users. The SQL Server and IIS will be hosted on separate servers on the same domain.

New configuration: The ASP page is hosted on a Win 2000 SP4 server running IIS 5.x and the SQL Server 2000 RTM program is hosted on a Win 2003 server. Previous configuration: All of this code worked with MS Access and IIS hosted on Win 2000 servers.

All is well accessing the SQL Server databases while IIS Directory Security is configured for Secure Communications requiring SSL and 128-bit encryption, Ignoring Client Certificates with Client Certificate Mapping enabled.

Fails when accessing databases while IIS Directory Security is configured for Secure Communications requiring SSL and 128-bit encryption, Requiring Client Certificates with Client Certificate Mapping enabled.

Error message:
Microsoft OLE DB Provider for SQL Server error '80004005'
Login failed for user 'serverURL\test'. Reason: Not associated with a trusted SQL Server connection.

Database connection:
'Set conn_doc_info = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Connection")
'conn_doc_info.Open "Provider=SQLOLEDB; Data Source=" & sql_DataSource & ";" & _
'"Initial Catalog=doc_info; Integrated Security=SSPI"
Where: "sql_DataSource" is either the IP or ServerName of server hosting SQL Server 2000, both work.

Testing fails when Requiring Client Certs:
On the SQL Server side we have tried using "Windows only" and "SQL Server and Windows" Authentication, both fail.

Testing is successful when Ignoring Client Certs:
On the SQL Server side both "Windows only" and "SQL Server and Windows" Authentication work.

Let me know if more detailed information is needed to resolve this problem.
Thanks for any suggestions.
