    Unanswered: SQL 2000 DTS Failing

The DTS package would execute and immediately fail. a reboot of this server fixed the problems, but does anyone know how to get more info out of DTS to state why it failed, we have branch on error and NT event log entries, but nothing specific to state why. The 1st task is to assign global variables, but I'm not even sure it got that far.

Obviously the problem is fixed now, but if it happens again, some ideas of how to get data out would be useful.

How are you running the DTS package? From inside Enterprise Manager using the Wizard, or are you calling it from a query, stored procedure or other source?

The DTS is being called from a .Net component running as a windows service. It sits there looking at a landing zone folder and when a file arrives it connects to SQL, determines with DTS package to process the file, then spawns off a separate process which calls the DTS package that processes the file.
The windows service is working fine, it's calling the correct DTS (we have 7 of them) and they have been working fine since Jan 05, last mod was April 06 in a production environment, so there's nothing wrong with DTS package or file loader service. We started getting problems like :-
Load FileA, it ran through OK. Re-run FileA and fails to run the 1st task of the DTS. Run FileB and it fails, re-run it and it works.
A Reboot of the server has fixed the problem, but no clues at all as to why/what and more importantly if this is going to happen again and how to avoid it.
