Unanswered: will rman try to backup offline datafile?
Hi all -- We have an oracle 126.96.36.199 database, almost 4 terabytes, which we need to back up using rman. At the tail end of the backup we get a read error on one datafile and the backup fails. Obviously we're investigating but as a short-term fix we were thinking of moving everything in the file (indexes) and taking it offline. If we were to do that, would rman then ignore that datafile in the next backup attempt? Thanks for any advice/guidance you can provide.
