    Exclamation Unanswered: ctx-index problem

    Hello,

we have a problem with a ctx-index. We have 3 ctx-indexes in our database. 3 on 3 tables. We also use the sync option to synchronise the indexes. This has always worked perfect. Now we had to recreate the index (with same syntax as before). But 1 of the 3 doesn't create succesfully. Normally nothing has changed, only index was created newly.

this is the error we get:
    ERROR at line 1:
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel

and then we aren't connected to the database anymore. We used also the logging, and see that it stops after 17700 documents indexes. We have in total more then 19000. Database is 8.1.7.3 on Win2000-server.

the status of the index is still 'in progress' after the error, dropping the index is with force. CTXSYS-user is not locked. Both other indexes work perfect, also after recreation, there is no problem with them...

in the windows tempdirectory we see that it uses those drgit/drgib-files. We opened the one that was last succeeded (or where the problem was), we find out which document it was in the database and let this out of the database, but no change, still same error (ORA-03113). Is there a way to see which document could be the reason of this problem? Or are there other people having this problem and off course a solution?

    that would be very nice....

    Hi,

This error means that the connection was unexpectedly lost. Either you are experiencing network issues or you are encountering an Oracle bug. I experienced such "seems to be a network error but is not" in the past... If you believe it is your case, I suggest you search for a similar problem on metalink and/or open a service request.

    Good luck,

Does the login account you are using have a special PROFILE with limited resources?

Oracle 8 is desupported for several years now. But, if you (or your company) is their (very) important customer, I guess they *might* provide support. If not, I'm afraid you're on your own.
