    Unanswered: Case-sensitive fieldnames

    hi all,
    is there an advantage/disadvantage to the following:

    create table test.sample (NAMEID integer not null) in userspace1;
    create table test.sample ("NameId" integer not null) in userspace1;

    In the second case the fieldname is case-sensitive. Is there a distinct advantage to making fieldnames case-sensitive?

    Thank you

    I do not think so. Everytime you reference the case sensitive column name, you have to encase it in quotes, just like you did when you created it. To me this detracts from the readability of the code.

    Definitely. It improves job security. On the downside, people who will have to support your application will eventually hunt you down and bludgeon you to death with keyboards and mousepads.

    "It does not work" is not a valid problem statement.
