Unanswered: RMAN Backup to remote disk

    Hi,

We have a new server with large disks. I want to start backing up all of our databases to this new server directly using RMAN (We currently backup to tape using an MML). Can someone please give me example syntax of how to do this?

Also, how would I mount the remote drive? What would I put in the FORMAT command?

Once the RMAN backup is taken, a job will run nightly to back it all up to tape.

    Thanks.

    Sunil.

You could NFS mount the remote drives and then just specify the path in your FORMAT parameter.

backup to disk MUST be local or off of a NFS mounted drive (as above).

    OR
backup locally and then transfer off after the backup has completed.
