i would charge $9x, where x is your standard hourly rate

alternatively, you may wish to charge a nominal $y flat fee

please note that we are not allowed to mention actual prices

Last time I did some friendly side work, I charged about half the going rate / hr and only billed about 75% of the time worked.

[edited to remove actual $ amount per rudy's remark above.]

actually i cannot find a specific dbforums.com guideline which advises us not to discuss pricing

if there is no such guideline, there should be one, and i'll see if i can get the owners to post one

in the meantime, have a look at this one --

i'm on several discussion forum sites and price discussion is not allowed on any of them

I usually do anything for a pizza and six pack and some sweet talking.
“If one brings so much courage to this world the world has to kill them or break them, so of course it kills them. The world breaks every one and afterward many are strong at the broken places. But those that will not break it kills. It kills the very good and the very gentle and the very brave impartially. If you are none of these you can be sure it will kill you too but there will be no special hurry.” Earnest Hemingway, A Farewell To Arms.

Just curious, what's the reasoning behind not discussing rates? I don't see any harm in it... other than price fixing maybe.

EDIT: I should have looked at the link you posted before posting myself. price fixing indeed!

Unfortunately, my local station no longer carrys "This American Life".
If it's not practically useful, then it's practically useless.

DC has 2 NPRs and I think they both stream their feeds over the net for free.
