    Unanswered: problem with mdf file for customer

    I have given a Zip file with mdf + ldf file to a customer and he cannot attach it to his server
    what can be the problem ?
    any rights ?

    The customer needs to copy the ZIP file to their computer, unzip it, then attach the MDF and LDF files. Just having the ZIP file on a CD or DVD won't help until it is on their server.

    Oh yeah, if I guessed the wrong problem, then more clues as to what's wrong would help!

    of course the zip file is unziped and in a folder at its right place

    Why not just send a (zipped) backup? Detaching and attaching always seems like a "only use in case of emergency" kind of thing...

    Now I reread this... did you detach the database before you zipped the files? If not the files are unusable because they're still open. Btw. detaching will remove the database from the instance so know what you're doing!
