Unanswered: Downgrading from 10g to 9i

    Hi all,
I have a backup of DB taken from Oracle 10g, I want to restore this in Oracle 9i. Is it possible?

If not how to port data in 9i.

    Thx

    No.

    Use 9i exp/imp utilities.
    Use database links.

    No thank you.
I'll allow somebody else to do your work for you.
How ever if you get desperate, you can read the fine Utilities Manual found at http://tahiti.oracle.com

OK, here it is: as Anacedent already said, you'll have to use Oracle 9i EXP and IMP utilities. Either use full path to it, or go to 9i/bin directory, or make sure 9i path is before 10g path in the PATH system variable.

First do the export: at the operating system command prompt, do something like

    OS> EXP system/password@ora10_alias_from_TNSNAMES.ORA FILE=ora10.dmp

Now, using 9i import utility, import this file:

    OS> IMP system/password@ora9_alias_from_TNSNAMES.ORA FILE=ora10.dmp

For full syntax and options, read the book whose name is provided in post #4.
