Unanswered: Refer to a Main form in a query expression

In a query that is in a subform, how can I build the expression to add a field into a query. Basically, I want it to populate the field in the query.

I tried to do something like
    Code:
    Forms![frmAutoForm]![AutoID]
I want this AutoID into the query

The funniest thing, I tried that it worked. Went away and came back and it is not working... when I run the query with that expression that field is null.
I erased it and recreated the same expression, still no luck. That is why I am asking.
