    Unanswered: Auto numbers

The auto numbers of my tables begin with 1000 and i have reached 1500. Which is the best way to to preserve the old auto numbers and begin the numbering with 2000?

sounds dangerously like you are trying to subvert the principle behind an autonumber and give it some external meaning... dont

if you need the number to have some meaning outside your system then use another column to represent that

An autonumber column should have no meaning outside it making a row unique. normally the autonumber column will be a primry key and will be used if there is no obvious other candidate keys. Ive never yet found one that isnt.. but you live in hope.
I'd rather be riding on the Tiger 800 or the Norton
