Unanswered: Updating DB Server to SQL2005 *after* the install?

I had a SQL2000 Server with a simple database. I did an "in place" upgrade to SQL2005 expecting the DB Server and databases to upgrade. However, now when I run SQL Server Management Studio and enter the query:-

SELECT SERVERPROPERTY('productversion'), SERVERPROPERTY ('productlevel'), SERVERPROPERTY ('edition')

    I get the answer:-

    8.00.2039 SP4 Enterprise Edition

Why didn't it upgrade? And how do I upgrade it now? I'm very confused!

Databses built in 2000 run in 2000.
2005 can read them but has some "funnies" when making changes.

I have kept both 2000 and 2005 running in sequence so I can access both our old and new databases.

    Meh, hope that helps.

Thanks, but no, that doesn't help. I need the database to be a 2005 database - I need to use some of the new features of 2005 on this database. Anyway, the problem isn't the database, it's the Database Server still says it's 2000. I need a 2005 Database Server.

why not you install a fresh copy of SQL 2005 and DTS all the tables in SQL 2000 to it? upgrading is not very recommended I guess.
