    Unanswered: tempdb log file placement

    Using SQL2000

Is it recommended to put tempdb data and logs files on different drives?

That would be a best practice. The more heads you have acting on the data, the faster your throughput.

If they are on the same drive, you will be trying to write logs and read/write tempdb at the same time.
