    Unanswered: help plzz urgent. (SQL Server does not exist problem)

    I had installed sql 2005 on a server. On the same server I installed sql 2000 named instance. Sql 2005 is the default one. I tried open sql query analyzer and enterprise manager for the instance on the same server and it worked. But when i tried to do that from other machine it throws me error

    [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][DBNETLIB] SQL Server does not exist or access denied.

    Can some one help plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

    Hi, by default in sql2005, tcp/ip protocol and remote connections are disabled.
    Open the Configuration Manager, and enable the namedpipes and tcp/ip protocol.
    Open Surface Area Configuration under the sql2000 menu; under DatabaseEngine-->Remote Connections; select Local And Remote Connections.

    You should be good to go then.
