I work quite a lot with databases but I use them rather than create or design them. I gather information on Australian species for a government organisation and quite frequently I am presented with a large list of species names for which I need to gather information on.

As you can immagine this is a very slow and repetitive task. It occured to me that there is probably software that can automate this process. Idealy, I would like to be able to enter a large list of species names from an excel list and have a program search each one for me marking which turn up positive results. It should be able to use almost any database search page on the web.

Perhaps someone might have another suggestion entirely on how to quicken my task? I am aware of Macro programs and they do help to a certain extent but for most cases there is too much variability in the output to be able to create a reliable loop.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!
