Unanswered: Insert Image into field Oracle 9i Home edition- Newbie

    Hi All,

I am trying to learn Oracle/SQL by installing Oracle Home edition on my home pc. I connect to my mock database by using Toad.

I'm trying to re-create the Northwind database from Access into Oracle. So far I've successfully created and uploaded most data in the tables. However, there is one table called Employees table that has images and I would like to re-create this.

I've spent the whole weekend searching the net for answers but I haven't come across any practical way of uploading the images into Oracle.

Can anyone tell me in straightforward steps how I can re-create the images in the Photo field from Access in Oracle.

So far I've gathered that one can store the images directly into an oracle blob field type (but this is very slow) or referre to the images from the field stored separatly on the hard-disk.

Your help will be very much appreciated.
