    Unanswered: average formula help

I have a database - I group by service and then I group by indicator code - then I total both service group and indicator code group - they want an average of the indictor group ... however there is no numeric field in the DB to do a average - how do I do this ?? .

    Report example:

    GEN
    05 - Indicator
    record 1
    record 2
    record 3
    record 4
total - 4 records **Average field needed to show
4 out of 7 records is what %

    06 - Indicator
    record 5
    record 6
    record 7

total - 3 records **Average field needed to show
3 out of 7 records is what %

total for service - 7 records

    TIA,
    Jenn

You can use the ToNumber () function in Crystal Reports to convert the text to number format and then run a Sum and Average on them.

    For instance, you can use a formula for each of the values you want to convert from the database. From your example;

    Create a formula @Record1:
    ToNumber({Record 1})

Do this for each of the values you want to convert, and then use the sum function to add the formulas together and get the average.
