Unanswered: OLD .mdb format - how to read

I have files with .mdb suffix created around 1996. The programs which built the files are written in Basic. I need to read(export) the data in these files.
I have tried microsoft access (97, 2.0, etc) but the format is not recognized.
Any ideas on how to get into these? I guess they aren't really Access files.

I could send a sample to someone for analysis.

    Thanks a million

Consensus opinion is that your db should be A97 ... Probably it's corrupted. You can try to repair it thru the A97 frontend, and if that fails, try an OBDC repair under a DSN.
