Unanswered: Converting Sybase to Oracle
I know this is a very broad question but.... I am a Sybase DBA...don't know that much about Oracle... I was a DB2 DBA for 1.5 years and I know the structure of DB2 and Oracle are pretty similar. Now the question. One of my applications is going to convert from Sybase 22.214.171.124 to Oracle 10g. Both are on HP/UX. We are using 2K pages in Sybase and we will be using 8K pages in Oracle. What kind of things do I need to consider when converting? I know the 2K to 8K pages will require more space. What about memory, configuration options, etc..... anything that I might not be thinking about with my limited knowledge of Oracle?
Thanks for any help you can give. I also posted this on the Sybase board.
