    Unanswered: Linking tables problem

    Hello;

    I'm attempting to link tables with the database (XP/Access2003) and I am getting an error of "MS Jet database could not find the object "filename"". How could it not find it... the system makes you point right at it !

    I have tried right-clicking in the database window/tables, and also using the link table manager from the top tool bar. Both actions return the same error. At one time the tables were in there, then I deleted them thinking that perhaps it was getting confused somehow. Table in, or out, returned the same error. (I can point at the table in Explorer and double-click and the table open just fine.) I tried the Import function and had the same result.

    They link just fine on the work system, but after transferring the database, and the two tables I want to link to onto the laptop... that's when the problem starts.

    Any ideas ???

    Thanks...

    Larry

    Found the answer here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/95327

    Renamed the files to less than 8 characters and they linked right away. Weird... they link on the office system just fine with more than 8 characters.
