    Unanswered: How to use concurrent io mounted file system in Sybase?

    Hi All,

    I am supposed to mount a file system with concurrent IO (cio) enabled. And then use that mount point in the sysbase to create database and perform datatbase modifications.

    Till now I was using raw device for Sybase this is how I was using it.

    disk init
    name="userlog_vol"
    physname="/dev/vx/rdsk/sybdg/userlog_vol"
    size=1048576
    go

    But, now i have to test using cio mounted file system. I am unaware of how to use it with Sybase. Please Help.

    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Prasad.

    Is this under AIX ?

    If so - I have been told that concurrent IO is not supported by ASE until ASE 15.0, at which point you can create the Sybase devices (in ASE) with the directio option. This should normally be used in conjunction with CIO for the filesystem, although I have not confirmed this myself (no ASE 15 in production at the moment).
