    Unanswered: time representation conversion

Is there a way to take 6:30 represented as a time and convert it to 6.5?

What I do is track my hours by having a start time and a stop time. Then the difference is stored and it will look like a time. I then want a function that will automatically take that time value and convert it into a decimal.

    Thanks

    Hi

I think we need a little more explanation on how 6:30 is entered/stored/displayed.

However, if the literal 6:30 is entered in, say, cell A1, then it is converted to a time (actual value 0.270833333333333) but displayed as 06:30.
If this is the case then in another cell type = A1*24 and format it as General or Number it displays as 6.5.

Is that any help at all ??
