    Unanswered: dbspace is offline

    Hi there,

    I am new to informix.
One of my dbspace is down. How can I get it back online?

    rafcs0#:/Ifmxdata>oninit
    Bad Primary Chunk '/Ifmxdata/dbspace1_3'.

Does anybody know how to resolve this?

    Question

first, what is the version ??
you can get with : onstat -

    1) check the file '/Ifmxdata/dbspace1_3'.
if is a link, this link is valid???
    if is linked to :
    - a raw device, this raw is accessible??
to check a raw device you can use dd command to read all data...
    - a coocked file (file of OS like any other ) , try copy to another location and remake the link.

    2) to try put this chunk online use the onspaces :
    onspaces -s <dbspacename> -p /Ifmxdata/dbspace1_3 -o <offset> -O

    ps.: sorry my bad english...

    Regards
    César

    Hi atemka,

No, the link was not mirrored. However, I figured that since the offline chunk contained system catalogue info and I had a backup which was restored on my test server about a month or two back and there were no changes to the actual tables recently, I then ftp'ed the chunk from test into the production box, overwriting the existing chunk which was offline. Then I refreshed my link and was able to get it back online with onspaces.

    Thanks artemka
