Is this Sybase IQ or Sybase ASE?

IQ -m on startup would suicide the log, which means data is lost. Not much you can do in IQ if it fails recovery.

Sybase ASE, you can either alter the log in bypass recovery that is update the master.sysdatabases.status = -32768 and then dbcc dbrepair(<db>, remap)

alter database dbname log on dev=<size>
    go
DO NOT issue a SHUTDOWN(you will suicide the log)

alternatively, you can choose to suicide the log. You will lose data

don't run alter database, instead, just issue a checkpoint in the database and do a normal shutdown.

In fact I don't wait the time needed by a simple "USE my_indexspace" with sa role...

When I tried it I wait only 1 hour, but it takes finaly 3 hours !!!!

Thks a lot for your reply
