    Unanswered: parameters: configured vs running

When I do a "show parameter processes" it shows a VALUE of 300. However, I'm pretty sure this is not dynamic, IE: if I change the value from 300 to 500, "show parameter processes" will return 500. However, it's my understanding that this does not take affect until the instance is restarted. Is there any way to show the "running" versus "configures" values for parameters?

    AMY,
What prevents YOU from doing your own research & testing to learn EXACTLY what happens on your system.
Such testing should be done using BOTH spfile & pfile to start the instance.

    SQL> DESC V_$PARAMETER
    SQL> DESC V_$SPPARAMETER

    HTH & YMMV
