    Unanswered: javax.mail.MessagingException from Sqlplus

    Hello,

I am running some Oracle procedure to get messages from popserver using java. The messages would be store in a db table.
But after the execution of this procedure which I call from Sqlplus 9i I got the following error.

    Error:

    javax.mail.MessagingException: Connectfailed; nested
exception is: java.net.connectException: connection to pop.bluebottle.com timedout.

WOuld someone tell me why this error took place how to avoid it?

    Thanks

    Woolmer

from the database server system what happens when you do the following:
    $ telnet pop.bluebottle.com 110
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Hi,

I am getting the foolowing result when I run this query as you written:

    SQL> $ telnet telnet pop.bluebottle.com 110

    telnet [-a][-e escape char][-f log file][-l user][-t term][host [port]]
-a Attempt automatic logon. Same as -l option except uses
the currently logged on user's name.
-e Escape character to enter telnet client prompt.
-f File name for client side logging
-l Specifies the user name to log in with on the remote system.
Requires that the remote system support the TELNET ENVIRON option.
    -t Specifies terminal type.
Supported term types are vt100, vt52, ansi and vtnt only.
host Specifies the hostname or IP address of the remote computer
    to connect to.
port Specifies a port number or service name.

It appears you are/were unaware that "telnet" is a command line utility.
