Unanswered: dropping data after decimal point

What datatype should a field be in order to accept decimals? When importing to the field ie: 5.88 it only shows 5.00. It drops the amount after the decimal. The field was changed to TEXT from an integer and still no luck.
    Thanks,

Try using the number type, for example: NUMBER(11,2)

PS: Integers ALLWAYS truncate the decimals!
