    Exclamation Unanswered: $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catrman.sql is missing

    Dear Friends,
I have installed Oracle9i software only and created database manually.
    I am not getting $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/admin/catrman.sql. It's missing.

I want to know Why it's missing & How to get it?
    Please reply ASAP.

If I remember correctly, having to run the catrman script was removed in 8.1 after that, rman was a standard part of the database.

You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

    Dear Friend Bill,
I have following basic questions. So please reply me or send me links which can solve these questions. I am using Oracle 9i on Redhat linux (RHEL 4) platform.

    1. Why we create two OS groups (oinstall and dba namely) before installing oracle?
    2. Purpose of setting environmental variables? At which point each is used. Like we export ORACLE_SID before connection, startup, export etc.
    Especially I want to know about ORACLE_BASE, ORACLE_HOME, LD_ASSUME_KERNEL, LD_LIBRARY_PATH, NLS_LANG, NLS_33_LANG and NLS_DATE_FORMAT.

Send link to find more info about environmental variables.
